Program Assisstants

In order to deliver a quality Canskate Program, we need the assistance of our STAR skaters!  With program assistants, we are able to offer Canskate to more skaters, which helps reduce costs for our STAR skaters.

A Program Assistant schedule will be created and shared prior to the first day of CanSkate (Saturday, October 15th).  If a skater is unable to make a scheduled shift, they are responsible for finding a replacement and need to inform the Club's Program Assistant, Samantha Wiggins, at sam_wiggins@hotmail.com.

There will be a mandatory Program Assistance Training on Wednesday, October 12th, from 5:10-6:15pm, at the Lady Beaverbrook Rink. Pizza included!

As a Program Assistant, you will:

1) Assist the coaching team with CanSkaters at all levels.
2) Enhance program delivery.
3) Help skaters on & off the ice and clean up the ice.
4) Help with name tags.
5) Watch for safety (close doors, holes, skate laces, etc..).
6) Supervise your group.
7) Lead your group from station to station.
8) Help with lead warm-up, group activity and cool-down.
9) Demonstrate skills.
10) Be a role model for the skaters.
And most importantly, to Spread the joy of Skating!
